This tile was made in honor of my mother-in-law who is a big fan of Winnie-the-Pooh. The reference is to the chapter "In Which Piglet Is Entirely Surrounded By Water." The water's surface is a mix of a satin matte glaze and an art glaze, making for marked differences in color depending on the depth of application - thicker glaze gives darker color. It is a fine line between thin enough for the lighter tone and so thin that the quarry tile begins to show through. Varying amounts of seagreen and white were mixed on a scrap tile to give deeper shading to some parts of the bottle and add to the illusion that the note is of white paper seen through a green bottle. The bottle colors were mixed only for this tile so the usual squeeze bottle method was not used and some brush strokes can be seen.
