Here's the engine from the left side.  The hypro feed pump can be seen, as well as the cylinder drain
cocks and pump drive.

Here's a view from the top with the steam chest cover removed.  The slide valve is show
without the balance plate added shortly after these pictures were taken.  Note that the reason
for  the valve rod breakage was the excessive load caused by a little too much steam pressure (racing again!).
 

Now the valve chest and D-valve have been removed and the valve plate and
underside of the d-valve are clearly visible.
